It is certainly a challenge to bring all the attributes of a great surf icon to two SurfSkates, but that is precisely what those at YOW have managed to do with this new Signature series.

You've probably heard of Mick Fanning at some point, or maybe not. In any case, Mick, the talented Australian surfer, is a true icon of modern surfing, known for his progressive and explosive style. Not in vain, he was crowned world champion three times under the banner of the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) now World Surf League (WSL) . Mick has been a source of inspiration for a whole new generation of professional surfers.

How to choose your Surfskate

Size:

All boards are measured Height″ x Width″ and measurements are expressed in inches, marked with a quote (”).

Wheelbase:

It is the wheelbase , this determines the arc or turning radius of a SurfSkate. The Wheelbase or WB (for its abbreviation) is measured from the center of the wheel, Hanger screw, to the other and its measurement is also expressed in inches, marked with a quotation mark (").

Concave:

The concave of a SurfSkate board generally has 3 levels: Low, Medium and High . The concave level is usually measured in the middle-front of the skateboard surface, mainly where we usually position the front foot. The concave function is to offer you better comfort (low level) or greater grip of your feet on the SurfSkate board (high level).

I don't know:

It is the nose of the board (if we translate it from English), although in Spanish we call Punta al nose of the board. The Nose or Tip of the board has different shapes: Pointed, Rounded, Rounded-Pointed.

Tail:

It is the Queue of the table . Defines the shape of the tail of the board, such as Fish , Pin , Round , Square , Squash and many others.

Rocker:

It is the curvature that the board has in the Nose and/or Tail and these can have Rocker or be Flat.

Axles or Trucks:

The axle is the set of mechanical parts on which the SurfSkate is supported , it is what connects the wheels to the board and what allows you to transfer energy to turn, pump or simply to slide.

System:

The system is the type of axle mechanism (generally the front one) that allows the Skate to become a SurfSkate. In most cases the truck comes built into a single SurfSkate system assembly, while in other cases the system is an adapter to which a standard skate truck is installed to finally convert it into a SurfSkate.

Wheels:

Skate wheels (in general) are measured by the Diameter x Width of the surface that contacts the ground and are expressed in millimeters (mm). In addition to the dimensions of the wheels, the Durometer of the compound or their material is also displayed (which are usually made of Urethane). The higher the number, the harder the wheel and the lower the number, the softer it will be. Being a Durometer of 78A, a soft wheel, perfect for a SurfSkate as it offers greater grip on the ground.

Relevant Data:

  • The shape of a SurfSkate board (Shape) does not influence its performance, unlike a surfboard.
  • The Tails on the SurfSkate are purely aesthetic and are designed to give it a surfer spirit.
  • The wider the area where you place your feet, in the Tail, the more comfortable you will feel and the more stability your SurfSkate will provide.
